I intend to include artists from roughly 1990 to present day on this page |

Mostly recent artists here, but not always well known this side of the big pond. Perhaps it is time to change that or at least look them up! Very new bands appear in the New Bands pages. Interesting incidentally that the NME, a UK music paper writes about US acts, but ignores the US charts! Why do that? The US charts are not, apparently just sales charts but reflect airplay too. Come on NME lets have them back!

INDIE |
Pavement |
Pavement were very individual, some link Blur with the band too. Lead singer Stephen Malkmus is on tour in April and has an eponymous album out now. Apparently it is similar to Pavement in part. |

Canadian. |

This is a "Brothers band" in a big way! Triplets apparently? Plus a fourth brother. They all play and write as well, though not all the songs they use. They seem to be moving more towards the pop or even Indie genre. Like Hanson, they sound youthful, though they are a little older than Hanson on average. Er do they remind you of someone else in music? |

Smog |
There was a reference recently (July 2000 Record Collector) which I am going to look up and Sister Ray seem to stock a lot of the back catalog. Left is a list of early releases. |
|
Leader |
Bill Callahan is the guy behind this band. He appeared at Scott Walker's Meltdown festival last year. He plays piano and guitar and is skilled in studio use too. |

RAP |
Lil Bow Wow (Yap Rap?) What's with this Canine Fixation? |
Snoop Doggy Dog "discovered and named this 13 year old mini rapper at 6 apparently". At least he (so far) doesn't need the Parental Advisory sticker! First single has hit the UK top ten! |
