Madchester originators, much copied at the time and very influential ever since

This page shows the Silvertone releases by the band.

All the scans except Sally Cinnamon are the CD cover slip sheets. The 7" and 12" if available carried different track listings.

Sally Cinnamon was actually the second Roses release. The 12" of So Young came out first. There are a lot of fake copies of this release, i.e So Young, some from Japan.(the label colour is the giveaway, assuming you do know the correct shade of yellow!) The 7" Sally (shown) may have been repressed. So Young is also referred to as "Mysery Dictionary" on bootlegs, of which there are many!

The Stone Roses Sleeves are unusual in that they are almost all designed by group member John Squire. He clearly shows the influence of Jackson Pollock, and even in one session treated himself and the rest of the band to the same treatment! They also did the same to a record company office!

Guernica, one of the reverse play tracks seems to work very well indeed to my mind. Whether this was a matter of chance or not, I'm unsure, but it's worth tracking down.

Released 1990 and "remixed" in 1995.

Fools Gold (Several versions and mixes exist.)

Suddenly reappeared as a Theakston Beer advert! Does this mean another reissue? Silvertone have done it once before already! The 1995 reissue has two so called remixes on it. 2000 has seen the release of a full album of remixes, only one of which is of recent date. This page will shortly have a link to a full "First Hearing" review of that album and an index of the other remixes existing before that point. Any omissions here? Please notify me via the e.mail link.
