This band showed the talents of Andy Bell, now in Oasis. He is a talented lead guitarist. |

Ride were an Oxford band, signed by Creation, the same label as Oasis. Important Reissues Now out! The members were, Andy Bell, guitar, Mark Gardener, vocals, Laurence Colbert, drums, percussion. Steve Queralt, bass Andy and Mark were responsible for most of the lyrics, but many tracks are group efforts. |
Apologies for not updating. I have seen news of all members too! Hopefully soon to appear here. |
I note Ride are mentioned in the "Influential" issue of the UK paper NME. Revived Website. |

One of the first bands on the new "Creation" label. |

One of the "Shoegazing" bands? There was stress between Mark and Andy which eventually led to breakup. Mark is now in "The Animal House" and Andy in Oasis, playing Bass, not lead! I show the US sleeve of "Going Blank Again" from 1992. Later albums have been reissued.A new US band, Ultragrey quote Ride as an influence. |

UK release |
The album was released in 1990, one of the early Creation albums. It shows the band in an almost improvisatory phase, with little sign of the Byrds like style which emerged later. The "shoegazing" label could apply here I guess. There are, I think videos available from this stage. (checking that) I think enough exists for a DVD release. |
Guitar effects dominate here, in a set of tracks produced by the band. Andy Bell clearly shows skills not reflected in his current position in Oasis. Thus far he has really only been, in effect a session musician in that band. Whether any co-operative compositions will emerge remains to be seen, but the Gallagher brothers history does not augur well! A new OASIS release is due soon. |

The guitar work on Dreams Burn Down is strongly similar to that of Felt, with Maurice Deebank. The second track Taste is a little Byrds like, guitar wise, and the overall sound is very clear and clean. |

Formed shortly after Ride disbanded, as Hurricane, but had to add #1 as there was already a "band" called Hurricane. There are copies of a promo CD with the name Hurricane. One album was released. There may be a second one lurking in the archives. The band have also broken up. Singer Alex Lowe has also released an album recently. Gotta look it up! Oops! (see below) |

Mark waited for some time apparently after the split, but in conjunction with Shifty Disco they released a single in the labels' Singles Club. An album is yet to appear, but there have been several singles. Small is one of these. Note the striking artwork. |

Import CD |
|
Frequently the Japanese market produces very striking versions of UK band material. RIDE did well in Japan, so Mark retains a following too. This sleeve is of "Ready To Receive". Import specialists are likely sources of others. |
