The pic above is one chosen as a starter. It was taken in the early 1960's. I'm the boy on the top of the triangulation pillar. That's Howard Greig to my right and Mabel is at the front.

Please accept my apology for re-designating this website. The alternative is still on line.

Welcome to my Family web pages.

When I began site building I wasn't able to let my mother Mabel see any of the pages. It was something I hoped to do this summer (2002). Alas, she passed away on April 24th 2002. so that cannot now be. I decided to start these new pages in her memory, and for other family members to see and information too

If you think you can help me out with photographs and comments, please get in touch. My own memory has always, to my mind let me down. Mum had a great long term memory, alas all now lost. We were going to record a lot this summer (2002) but fate has been so unkind to us. Life is full of regrets I suppose, but there are also some good memories too.

Note to family members and friends.

If anyone finding these pages has any written or photographic material which may be of help, please get in touch. We can work out some way to get that material (in copied form) here later.

A short biography and CV.

A recent self pic will appear on an Album page later.

Mabel was born on July 31st 1921, at number 9, Lambert St. Trawden. It seems I too spent some time there in 1946, but was in Wycollar in 1947, though I don't recall the snow! Mum did tell me about wheeling me past all the drifts though. Rather like 1963 I guess! Links were to "Lowlands" and "Bracken Hill" farms.

Comment on photographic content

Notice.

The galleries are now currently being set up.

Your pics and any reminiscences are welcome.

You can post them direct to the linked group if you like. (see below)

The site will soon contain material from my mum's collection of photographs. We were never very organised in that respect, and I'm afraid I was responsible for the loss of many or indeed most of the negatives. I was always trying to project them I think - not too sure. Some of the photos were "professional" ones. There were no disposable cameras in those days! Pre the "Box Brownie" even I think! Well it was 40 + years ago! I need help with a very old family album. The photos were never indexed, even in the days of grandmother Martha, and I only remember a few.

More Shortly

Sad news . Mrs Mary Burke, who I had spoken to many times over the phone in the last 2 or more years passed away early this morning (22nd Feb 2007.) at 85 years. Requiescat In Pace. She always encouraged me and cheered me up whenever she rang. She was the last of the generation I think.

I am constructing a Family Tree at Genes Reunited.com (think that's the site) more later.
A rather odd question here, Did Mabel have any siblings?

The Ancestral links. (Grandparents here) More to follow.

England The Hartley family, (Martha Hartley) - "Martha O'Moses"

England The Smith Family, (Riley Smith)

Ireland The Doyle Family. (Elizabeth Doyle)

Ireland The Murphy Family. (Thomas Murphy)

Please take time to leave a guestbook entry. This may be corrected soon (Dec.2009).

Note there is also a music section here, mostly my interests. Link here.
