The Drum Machine! (allegedly) Today many artists rely on generated rhythms and other kinds of tape loops. This band used a drum machine back in 1979. It seemed there was no human available until Pete De Freitas came along. He was a great discovery and provided a great input to the band. He died, sadly in a motorbike accident, a great loss to music. After that the band also lost Ian, who, after a pause produced solo work. The band continued for a time with a new vocal line, but the sound changed.

Video Shine So Hard? |
A candidate for DVD perhaps? There is also a TV documentary in the archives.A very considerable live concert stock exists too. |

CandleLand (1989) |
Ian has just described this (in Record Collector August 2001 page 63) as "one of the saddest albums of all time". Dedicated as it is, "FOR MY DAD", he means this in the true sense of the word. Ian mentions elsewhere that his dad's deep voice had been an early source of inspiration. The US released "Faith and Healing" remix etc set has got to be one of the longest "Maxi Single" CDs ever! |
|||||
Mysterio (1992). |
A lighter album than Candleland, including a Leonard Cohen cover " Lover Lover Lover" for which there is a truly impressive remix "Indian Dawn" on the US version of the single. |
|||||
Burned (1995) |
After Ian's solo releases he formed "Electrafixion",
producing a single album "Burned" in 1995 with the
excellent singles, "Zephyr","Lowdown" and
"Never". The Bunnymen then reformed, releasing a new
album in 1997 with the first single "Nothing Lasts Forever"
doing rather well! |

What Are You Going To Do With Your Life (1999) |
Ian made a big deal about the next album (1999) not being overlong. At the price charged it was too short for me, so I still have only just got it! |
|||||
Avalanche (2000) |
They have now no label, but have put out an EP. NOT qualifying for the chart because perversely, its TOO LONG! See "Avalanche" at this site. Hope you have better luck with it than I had! Gave up in the end. (23/10/00) |
