Muse Page (Origin Of Symmetry see Muse2)

Plug In Baby, the first track to be released from the new album shows the band in good form. As usual in the UK, high entry then slide! Pricing policy again I guess? Odd how Toploader hung around so much longer with the reissue of "Dancing in The Moonlight"!

Er has anyone looked at the Moffatts recently?

Not sure if it's my imagination, but see for yourself. They sure didn't sound "Musey" the last tracks I heard though!

Excellent site revision by Simon! He has downloadable MP3 files of "Origin of Symmetry" the new album. Check out the link "unofficial" below. Time I checked the other links again too! Just played the "Bliss" clip! Excellent! Melodic, multi tracked and Matt on great form vocally too! A review of "Submodalities" by the Moffatts will appear soon. Pity they are not still working now.

The "negative" shot right is on Simon's site above the list of downloads. The quality is high, though they are not full length. Still, Why grumble! Get the album ordered!

Press release.

Origin Of Symmetry. WOW! Not played it all yet. Keep putting tracks on repeat! Matt has moved in leaps and bounds here. OK tracks are long and episodic (quasi classical style in fact) but thats NOT a justification for some of the criticism. Comment on Channel 4 that it's "horribly overblown and self important". Guess I'll post the whole article on my comments page. "Pop" music does NOT have to be in 3 min units! That should have "died out" with the older 7" single playing time. Even that has now been extended, and I still buy 7" singles! Really would like to see Muse at the Bridgewater Hall! (see the Halle page here for the reason!)

Any other sites out there to add to this links section? Bobs FAQ site perhaps?

A very "complete" site!

The Original Muscle Museum website is demolished! Gotta check the Fans website mentioned above. The link is to the old site, the displayed URL will be the new one. Lyrics for most tracks are on the unofficial site run by Simon, who also has an unofficial Coldplay site. This band show a wide range of influences and a lot of creativity. If you only know the single A sides from radio play, the CD mentioned will come as a real surprise. Some of it is rather hard on the ear, but really well done! The CD is a 20 tracker, with NO DUDS! There are some REAL remixes and earlier versions. Check out "Unintended" for a good song and excellent video. Looking for more copies of the compilation too.

The Tesseract? Is this the correct reference?

The Tesseract. (see NME p 5)
Matt has said that this is an influence re the new album. The book is one of many by Madeleine L'Engle.

I have NOT read it, but here's a link to one site relating to it. The site is a personal one by a fan of the writer.

"I was probably in fifth grade when I first read A Wrinkle in Time. I think my school librarian recommended it to me, for which I owe her an eternal debt of thanks. It quickly became my favorite book, and all these years later, it still is.

It's easy to see why I loved the book at the time. Aside from being well-written, intellectually challenging and spiritually uplifting, it starred Meg Murry, a character who could have been me in other circumstances. I was nearly Meg's age, I was bright, and I didn't fit in with other kids at school, either. In the book, Meg finds unexpected friendship and overcomes extreme difficulties, and maybe the story gave me hope that my life could get better, too.

A Wrinkle in Time was also a time travel story of sorts, giving me a taste of what has since become a major interest of mine. Nearly every work of fiction I've ever deeply cared about, from Star Trek to Doctor Who, Anne McCaffrey's Pern books to the work of James Thurber, Back to the Future to Quantum Leap, has time travel in it somewhere".

This collection is not sanctioned by the band. The quality is perfectly acceptable however, and the writer has contacted the band suggesting they adopt the release, perhaps as a fanbase item. Should they decline, this listing will be removed at the earliest moment after notification.

The reissue of Muscle Museum deserved a better chart position, but how much are the charts valued today in any case!

Oh yes, Matt, "Grande Messe Des Morts" is Great Requiem Mass. He apparently likes Berlioz. This work is a spectacular one as the NME (Dec 2) article mentions.
